What is Ubumi?

Zambia is an African Country located in the southern region. It has an estimated population of 12 million people and has over 70 local languages, though English is the official Language. One of the most popular local langauages is Bemba. Ubumi, therefore is a Bemba word meaning LIFE.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Ubumi project is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO)established in 1997, with the aim of addressing the plight of orphans and vulnerable children. Its main objectives are;
  • to improve the living standards of orphans and vulnerable children through care and support
  • to strengthen extended families (guardians) through material and finanacial empowerment in income generating skills.
The Ubumi project is currently running two programmes:

  1. Ubumi as a Transit Home
  2. Ubumi as a Community Center
